Treatment Notice and Acknowledgement of Risk During COVID-19 Pandemic
Our goal is to maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff when providing our community with dental health care.
The COVID-19 virus is a serious condition. The World Health Organization has classified it as a pandemic. You could contract COVID-19 from a variety of sources one of which could be in a dental office. We want to ensure you are aware of the risks of contracting COVID-19 associated with dental care and weigh this carefully with the benefits of the dental treatment you are requesting.
The COVID-19 virus has an incubation period. You or your healthcare provider may have the virus and not show any symptoms and yet be contagious. Determining who is infected by COVID-19 is challenging and complicated due to the limited availability and accuracy of virus testing. Currently, there is no cure or vaccine available.
You cannot wear a protective mask over your mouth during treatment as your healthcare providers need access to your mouth to render care.
If you are over the age of 65 years old or have heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, or are immuno compromised, you may be more susceptible to contracting the virus and having a serious outcome.
If you are caring for an elderly or medically compromised relative, we ask that you take into consideration that you could contract the virus and transfer it to them.
For our part, we have always and will continue to follow all the different health agencies recommendations to provide dental treatment as safely as possible. Some, but not all the additional precautions that we have implemented include:
-
Screening our staff before the start of every work day
-
Screening patients before they are allowed to enter our office
-
Wearing the appropriate PPE's that protect the patient as well as the healthcare provider
-
Limiting the number of patient's being treated in the office at any one time to two people
-
Using treatment rooms that are socially spaced
-
Positioning multiple hospital grade air purifiers in different areas of our office
-
Additional disinfecting step of fogging treatment rooms after every use with HOCI disinfectant
Please call us if you have any questions regarding your care. We can review your current health conditions with you, the dental treatment you are requesting and explain the risks and benefits of the treatment so that you can make an informed decision that is best for you. Like with all diagnoses and treatment options we have discussed with you in the past, we strive to provide you with all the information necessary for you to make your decision. We do not feel that it is in your best interest for us to make these decisions for you.
Please acknowledge that you understand the risks of contracting the COVID-19 virus while having treatment in our dental office.
