2021 COVID Relief Grant Application

In 2020 The St. Louis Blues Society’s Mission Fund awarded COVID Relief grants to 150 St. Louis Blues artists who have been adversely affected by the pandemic. To start off 2021 we will be offering new grants to help get through the winter. Receiving a previous relief grant does not disqualify you from receiving this new one.

The new relief grants will be for up to $250 for specific cost-of-living bills such as utilities, rent, insurance or medical bills. You will be required to upload and attach documentation of your bill(s) at the end of this application. Please have that information ready before you begin the application. Many file types are acceptable and include: pdf, jpg, and doc. These documents will be kept confidential and you are welcome to black out account numbers or other personal identification information before uploading.

Although we are requiring proof of the application type and amount, the grant award check will be made payable to the musician in the amount of the submitted bill(s) up to $250.

Please be mindful that there are many working musicians who have been adversely impacted by COVID-19. We are trying to provide funds to as many musicians as possible. We welcome applications from all working St. Louis blues musicians over the age of 18, but will prioritize lower income musicians, musicians who have the greatest need, musicians whose current household income is largely from their musical endeavors, and musicians who are connected to the St. Louis Blues Society (STLBS). The new grants will also be directed at working musicians who were averaging 3-4 performances a week before the pandemic.

Applications will be used to affirm eligibility and inform grantmaking decisions based on fund priorities. STLBS requests demographic data on our applications to understand who is completing the application and who is receiving support. Demographic data (gender, ethnicity) will never be used to make grantmaking decisions for the Blues Mission Fund. Questions regarding income will help inform our goal to prioritize musicians with the most need.

The application window will open on Sunday, January 10, 2021. The first award date will be Monday, January 18, 2021. We hope to notify all applicants of the outcome of their application within one week of the award date.

Award cohorts will proceed weekly as funds allow. Applications not granted will be carried-over for consideration in subsequent rounds. Do not send a new application unless there has been a considerable change in your circumstances. In the case of a necessary new application, please add the words "New Application" and note the details of why you are re-applying in the text box marked for notes.
