    A Virtual Adaptive Fitness Competition
  • The National Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events Office would like to welcome you to the 2nd Sports4Vets Throwdown, a virtual adaptive fitness competition.  

    The Sports4Vets Throwdown empowers Veterans of all ability levels, age and background to improve and showcase their fitness, live healthier lives though adaptive fitness and embrace a sense of a virtual community. 

    Classification specific adaptive fitness movement standards are in place to empower every Veteran in a competition environment.  

     

    Sports4Vets Throwdown Preparation
    Wednesday December 15th – Wednesday January 5th: Registration Window - Maximum of 500 Veteran Participants

    Wednesday January 12th: Sports4Vets Throwdown Kickoff & Workout #1 Released 1PM EST
    Thursday January 13th: Workout #1 Q&A + Pro Tips  6PM EST
    Friday January 14th: Workout #1 Q&A + Pro Tips  2PM EST
    Monday January 17th: Workout #1 Scores Due 1pm EST

    Week #2
    Wednesday January 19th: Workout #2 Released 1PM EST
    Thursday January 20th: Workout #2 Q&A + Pro Tips  6PM EST
    Friday January 21st: Workout #2 Q&A + Pro Tips  2PM EST
    Monday January 24th: Workout #2 Scores Due 1pm EST

    Week #3
    Wednesday January 26th: Workout #3 Released 1PM EST
    Thursday January 27th: Workout #3 Q&A + Pro Tips  6PM EST
    Friday January 28th: Workout #3 Q&A + Pro Tips  2PM EST

  • Classification Choices

    WHEELCHAIR — Recommended for individuals with spinal cord injuries, neurological impairments, amputations, and other diagnosis that utilize the wheelchair as the principal method of mobility.

    MODIFIED MOBILITY — Recommended for individuals with lower extremity conditions such as amputations, stroke or other disabilities that impact ambulation and exercise.

    MODIFIED UPPER EXTREMITY (UE) — Recommended for individuals with upper extremity conditions such as amputations, stroke or other disabilities that impact arm and hand function.

    VISUAL IMPAIRMENT (VI) — Recommended for individuals with partial to total vision loss that are new to adaptive fitness.

    OPEN — Recommended for individuals with no conditions significantly impacting mobility or arm/hand function.

  • Veterans are responsible for choosing the most appropriate Classification based on individual ability level

  • Each Veteran must complete this attestation as part of the required registration for the Sports4Vets Throwdown

     

    By signing and dating, you attest that you satisfy the requirements outlined below:

     

    1.     I am a Veteran who receives healthcare from a VA medical center.

     

    2.     I have discussed my physical condition with my VA provider.

     

    3.     My VA provider provided me with clearance to participate in the Sports4Vets Throwdown. 

     

    4.     If I experience pain or injure myself, I will stop and immediately seek support from my VA Provider.
