4/20/23 Update:
Monovalent (original) mRNA COVID-19 vaccines will no longer be recommended for use in the United States.
The bivalent vaccines were released near the end of last year 2022. You are due to update your vaccine if your last dose was before:
- September 2, 2022, for people aged 12 years and older
- CDC’s new recommendations allow an additional updated (bivalent) vaccine dose for adults ages 65 years (4 months from last dose) and older and additional doses for people who are immunocompromised (2 months from last dose).
- October 12, 2022, for people aged 5–11 years
- December 9, 2022, for children aged 6 months–4 years who completed the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine primary series
March 17, 2023, for children aged 6 months–4 years who completed their 3-dose primary series with the original Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine
