Small Talk is updating the attendance policy effective December 5th, 2023 to monitor and ensure that patients regularly attend their scheduled appointments for an overall successful therapy program. Your child’s success in therapy can be greatly enhanced with regular attendance, communicating with your therapist(s) and practicing the homework provided by your therapist(s).
When you schedule an appointment with our clinic you are RESERVING the therapist’s time. If a child’s scheduled appointment is missed it impacts the generalization of skills along with the mastery of established goals.
We will do our best to schedule our patient appointments at a convenient time. Broken appointments or late notice cancellations are a significant cost to the practice.
- We expect that missed sessions will be rescheduled in order to maintain 80% or better attendance
- To avoid a Late Cancellation fee Small Talk Pediatric Therapy requires 48 hour notice for a rescheduled appointment other than "illness"
- To avoid a Late Cancellation fee 2-week (14 day) notice for vacations with reschedules are required
- We reserve the right to charge $50 for missed appointments or Late Cancellations.
- Appointments are sent confirmations by our automated system. If we are unable to reach you, we trust that you will keep your scheduled appointment.
- If a patient arrives more than 5 minutes late we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment for a later date.
- Removal from the schedule will be considered if any of the following take place within a three month period:
- 2 consecutive canceled appointments
- Continual late arrivals, more than 5 minutes late to each appointment
- 1 appointment NO SHOW without a follow up call to notify Small Talk of your absence and not rescheduling within 48 hours of missed appointment
We understand that illness and emergencies happen suddenly and may require last minute notification and/or cancellation. We understand that extenuating life and health circumstances can make meeting our attendance policy difficult, which
is why communication with our staff is crucial. We will use discretion in determining both the nature, and frequency of absences when enforcing our attendance policy
