  • Notice for MassHealth & WellSense / BMC

❌ At the moment, we're not accepting new patients with MassHealth or WellSense Health Plan. Sorry about that! We don't have a set date for when we'll start accepting them again, and we're not keeping a waiting list for those plans at this time.

👶 For our Peak families with MassHealth or WellSense/BMC, if you're trying to register a newborn sibling, give us a call at (508) 576-5010. We're here to help!

  • Notice for BMC HealthNet Patients

Peak Pediatric Care can only accept BMC HealthNet MCO. If you have BMC HealthNet ACO (current patients from Sturdy will have this), then you will need to contact MassHealth and request they change you to the MCO plan before we can finalize your registration at Peak. We can not accept BMC HealthNet ACO insurance and will not be able to schedule an appointment (sick or well) until your plan has been changed.

Peak Pediatric Care can not contact MassHealth on your behalf to request a plan change.

If you are not coming from Sturdy Pediatrics in Attleboro, we can not guarantee that MassHealth will allow you to switch to the BMC MCO plan prior to open enrollment. It is completely dependent on who you speak with at MassHealth. Peak Pediatric Care has no control over this decision making process.

We will wait until your plan has changed to MCO before we send a medical record release to your current provider. This will allow you to continue seeing that provider until the change has taken affect, or if MassHealth does not allow you to make the change.

When calling to switch plans, please be sure to confirm that any specialist you currently see will accept the BMC HealthNet MCO plan.

  • Notice for Tufts plans

We accept most commercial Tufts plans. Our office does not accept the Tufts Health Together plan through MassHealth. If you have that plan, we will not be able to register you as a patient of Peak.

  • Insurance Verification Required

✅ We will need to verify that your insurance is accepted at Peak Pediatric Care. Please contact member services at your health insurance to confirm that Dr. Kathryn Hansen is in-network with your plan. A member of our staff will contact you once we have reviewed your registration.

❌ We are not able to accept any Rhode Island state insurance.

  • Our Office Policies

Our goal is to build a long-lasting relationship with your family, and understanding our policies is key to setting appropriate expectations and ensuring a smooth experience for everyone involved.
  • Key Policy Reminders

    Vaccine policy

At Peak Pediatric Care, we're all about keeping your little ones healthy and safe. That's why we require all our patients to follow the schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Massachusetts School Immunization Requirements. While alternative schedules may be tempting, they're not in line with our commitment to keeping your child healthy and safe. And while the COVID and Flu vaccines aren't required, we highly recommend them for extra protection.

    Missed appointments

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please let us know at least a day in advance so we can offer that time slot to someone else. We don't charge a missed appointment fee, but if you miss 3 or more appointments without proper notice, we may have to reevaluate our ability to continue seeing you as a patient.

All copays are due at the time of your visit

Our contract with your insurance company requires us to collect your copay at each appointment. If you do not pay it at the time of service, an additional billing fee will apply. Consider enrolling in our secure Peak Pay program to keep a credit card on file and avoid any extra fees in the future.

    Masks

We understand that getting your kids to wear a mask may be challenging, but we must follow the state guidelines for medical buildings in Massachusetts. All adults and children over 2 years old must wear masks inside our office, regardless of their vaccination status. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!

  • Patient Portal Access for Ages 13+

Due to privacy laws, we can only grant partial access to the patient portal to parents or legal guardians of patients who are 13 or older. This means you may only have access to certain information to protect the confidential relationship between the patient and their pediatrician.

We encourage you to provide an email or cell phone for your child so that we can set up a patient portal account for them. This will give them access to their medical information, the ability to message the doctor privately, and access to forms they may need to complete before appointments. We'll also set up a parent account with limited access. If the child chooses to grant full access to the parent, they can sign a release form at the office. No need to provide both an email and a cell phone; just one is fine.
