#BoulderStrong Informed Notification for Peer Support and Resiliency Training
Peer Mental Health
We are a peer-run organization providing mental health and trauma support solutions using resiliency training on video-conferencing and virtual reality environments. Persons with similar lived experiences facilitate the group. Resiliency and wellness education supports the group’s purpose.
Peer Support
We believe peer group relationships are the beacon of the healing process. We believe that each individual is unique and has their own way of addressing resolutions. We believe a wellness model helps peers empower themselves by focusing on what works for them. One's journey is not the same as the other. Participating in the group does not guarantee any specific outcome.
Peer Rights
Peer participants are free to share their own thoughts and experiences as they feel comfortable. They may ask questions about the program or process at any time. A peer may decline to proceed in the group at any time and may return at anytime.
The group facilitator has the right to remove a peer from the group if the peer demonstrates dysregulation that results in disrupting the experience of a cohesive group session or other reasons that negatively impacts the group’s wellness process.
Facilitators or presenters of the program do not have a doctor-patient relationship with any participating peer. No legal privilege is held. Nevertheless, within limits provided for by law, all records and information acquired by the peer facilitator shall be kept strictly confidential in accordance to the principles of a peer-to-peer relationship. This means the facilitator and participating peers pledge to each other that details shared by individuals in the group are not disclosed outside the group. There may be exceptions:
In the event a peer describes plans to harm self or others, the facilitator will notify Mental Health Partners who will determine a safety action plan, which may include disclosure of statements by the peer.
Confidentiality
Notes are kept to record the training process. The peer, Peer Mental Health, and Mental Health Partners has the right to review the records. Peer Mental Health and Mental Health Partners will not disclose information outside of their agencies unless required by law or by permission of the peer.
Quotes, observations, or qualitative information about the program will be reviewed in an outcome evaluation, which may be shared with third parties. In this case, specific identification of peers are redacted or changed to preserve privacy and confidentiality. Any identification of a peer will be made only with written consent of the peer.
VR User Committee
Peers may volunteer to participate in a User Group where experiences of the program are shared with program developers.
