This estimate for psychotherapy services is in effect until one year from the date above, unless another GFE is provided to replace it within that time. The GFE signed with the most recent date is the one that will be considered in effect.
Explanation: The estimate below is the range of costs that is likely for most clients. Until your therapist does an initial evaluation and starts working with you, they will not have a clear picture of your specific diagnosis, issues and needs. At ABHS, we typically see therapy clients for 15-20 sessions for a total cost of $3060-$3860. However, there is a very wide range in the number of sessions per client. On occasion, clients present with a single, clear, specific issue and attend only 3-5 treatment sessions for basic information on strategies they can apply independently. Alternatively, when clients present with multiple, complicated issues, we often need additional sessions (more than 20).
In addition, costs for reviewing records, writing treatment reports and letters to other providers, and unscheduled phone support are not included in the estimate below. Costs for these services are clearly listed in the Billing Consent form and will be noted to you at the time such services are provided, if they are needed.
To provide a total possible range of costs, the table below assumes you will be meeting weekly (during the one year covered by this estimate) with your therapist at ABHS (resulting in a maximum of 48 treatment sessions, assuming skipping some weeks). However, the frequency might be only once every two weeks (perhaps after the first few sessions, once intervention is underway), or might not last the entire year, resulting in a lower cost (than the maximum estimate). In cases in which clients are in need of additional intervention and meet twice per week for a period of time, or for those who meet for more lengthy (60 minute) sessions, costs will be higher than the maximum estimate below and a new GFE will be provided when such need is determined.
If a client attends sessions regularly and works diligently on strategies in between sessions, we are very hopeful that the client will see noticeable improvement within 10 sessions on the specific presenting issue being addressed. If you are experiencing several different issues, the speed of progress will depend in part upon how well the therapeutic work is focused on one issue at a time. You can always stop therapy at any time if it becomes cost prohibitive for you, and use what you have gained in the sessions you did attend to continue your progress independently. If progress isn't being made, your therapist will discuss that directly with you to try to determine why, and you may choose whether or not to continue your efforts, discontinue, or request a referral to a different provider.
