Dear EJP Member,
We are glad you are working with EJP. Whether you are a new EJP member or a retuning one, we trust that your knowledge, skills, and experience will be valuable assets to the Education Justice Project and those we work with.
We require all active EJP members to read the current EJP handbook annually and indicate their understanding and acceptance of our policies by signing this form. We have this requirement for several reasons.
• We believe we can move forward as EJP more energetically, purposefully, and efficiently if we move together, with shared understanding of how EJP works and shared expectations;
• We want EJP members to move within our organization to whatever roles are the best fit for them at any given time, and the information in the handbook helps people determine where within EJP they wish to be;
• There are some matters, e.g. those around our values and language, that we care about deeply and want to protect, by ensuring that all members are aware of them;
• Reading the handbook is one way to remain aware of rules and policies, and it’s vitally aware that all EJP members have such awareness.
A special note for EJP members who work at Danville Correctional Center: we require that all members with active clearance sign a form indicating their understanding of the dress code, professionalism, and other matters related to conduct at Danville Correctional Center, on an annual basis. This information is included in the EJP handbook. The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) has asked that we do this.
Please also be aware that former EJP members are known as “Education Justice Faculty Affiliates.” Faculty Affiliates who have held IDOC clearance are obligated to self-report to IDOC any non-professional contact that they have with released EJP students.
Please return this form by December 8, 2024.
Thank you!
