  • Dear Applicant,

    The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) established the Ascot Fund to help provide financial assistance towards the purchase of a hairpiece to individuals who have alopecia areata and are struggling financially.

    Funding for this program is limited and awards are granted based on availability, up to $300. After your application is received, you will be notified of your status within 30 days. If your application meets all of the criteria specified in the application and approved, you will receive an email confirmation with the amount you have been awarded. Awards granted will be mailed directly to the business shown on the application form. Hairpieces costing more than $1,500 will not be considered. If the price of the hairpiece costs more than the amount awarded and you would like to claim the balance, you will need to provide a doctor's prescription to your insurance company.

    Important: If you pay in advance for the entire cost of the hairpiece (by credit card or with other financial sources) or if you are in possession of the hairpiece before being notified by NAAF of your award status, your application will no longer be eligible for review.

  • Before you begin to fill out the application, please review the eligibility requirements.

  • You are eligible to apply for assistance if you:

    ● have been diagnosed with alopecia areata by a dermatologist or other physician.
    ● have not been awarded an Ascot Fund grant in the last three (3) years.
    ● are unable to purchase a hairpiece due to financial challenges.
    ● are not in possession of the hairpiece for which you are requesting assistance to       purchase.
    ● have not already paid for the entire cost of the hairpiece with a credit card or other means.
    ● can pay for any balance remaining within 30 days of submitting application should you receive an award.

  • Select a Store or Company

  • Select the place of business where you would like to purchase your hairpiece. This business must be licensed and able to provide a copy of a business license/seller’s permit upon request. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. You’ll want to make an informed decision about the store or company you choose to work with. Request referrals and conduct a background check through the Better Business Bureau (go to www.bbb.org, search under “local BBBs”). NAAF is not responsible for unhappy purchases. You’ll feel more confident making your purchase knowing there have been no previous complaints.

  • Request an Invoice or Letter

    After you've selected the business of your choice, request an invoice or letter listing your name and the description and cost of the hairpiece. This letter must be printed on business letterhead and include the store address, telephone number and contact person.
