About our Project
Victoria Pavilion Arts is a project run by Sussex Support Service. Our aim is to provide access to high quality, meaningful arts activities and experiences and widen participation in the Arts regardles of ability, experience or background. We passionately believe that art has the ability to make people feel good, build confidence and connect with others and all our activities are aimed at supporting wellbeing and helping to reduce social isolation. We are located in a welcoming, accessible space in thre centre of a park, We have cafe facilities, ample workshop space and a professional hanging system for when the centre is transformed into a gallery space for our frequent exhibitions and Makers Markets.
We endeavour to support our local creative community and work in collaboration with artists facilitators from across the Wealden and Lewes area to deliver participatory workshops. We are interested in hearing your proposals for hands-on creative sessions which can embrace any art forms – painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, glass, music, filmmaking, digital art etc. If you are interested in leading our Arts for Wellbeing sessions please be mindful that activities should be designed to accommodate the needs and abilities of all participants. Completed artworks may form part of regular celebratory events and public exhibitions in our dedicated gallery space.
Arts for Wellbeing Sessions
These take place on Mondays & Fridays 11-12.30am for adults and Mondays 5.50-7pm for children aged 11-14. These are free/suggested donation £5 to enable anyone to take part.
Creative Weekend Workshops
These normally run once a month on Saturdays. Duration is dependent on workshop requirements and other centre activities. These are open to all and generally cost between £25-£40 per person to cover artist fees, venue hire, staffing, materials and refreshements. All costs & fees are negotiable.
Fee and time commitment for Arts for Wellbeing Projects
For artists with more than 3 years experience of delivering community workshops we offer a fee of £38.01 per hour (AUE payrates) . Sessions are normally 1.5hrs face-to-face facilitation plus 1/2 hr preparation. Depending on your proposal you may feel that more than one workshop would be appropriate to provide the best experience and we are more than happy to consider different approaches.
Fees for Weekend Creative Workshops
These are more flexible and determined by costings/workshop charges and in discussion with the Arts Development Coordinator & Sussex Support Service. As a non-profit organisation we aim to raise a small amount of funds through these events which go towards supporting our Arts 4 Wellbeing sessions.
