This appointment is for the COVID-19 vaccine.
We may have all brands available and you may have the opportunity to select which brand you prefer.
Please note the following:
The CDC has approved vaccines for children 6 months and up. In California, pharmacists are only allowed to independently provide vaccines to individuals age 3 and over. We will not be able to administer vaccines to anyone under 3.
The Infant/Toddler Dose is available in either Moderna or Pfizer. Moderna is a two dose series given 28 days apart for ages 6 months to 5 years. Pfizer is a three dose series given 21 days between dose 1 and 2 and 8 weeks between dose 2 and 3 for ages 6 months to 4 years.
Pfizer (age 5 to 11 or 12+) requires 2 shots, 21 days apart (or 56 days for certain individuals). An Additional Dose (also known as a 3rd Dose) is available for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised after 28 days following the second dose. A First Booster Dose is available after 5 months following the second dose for individuals age 5 and over or after 3 months for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. A Second Booster Dose is available after 4 months following the First Booster Dose for individuals age 50 and over or those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.
Moderna (age 6 to 11 or 12+) requires 2 shots, 28 days apart (or 56 days for certain individuals). An Additional Dose (also known as a 3rd Dose) is available for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised after 28 days following the second dose. A First Booster Dose is available after 5 months following the second dose for individuals age 18 and over or after 3 months for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. A Second Booster Dose is available after 4 months following the First Booster Dose for individuals age 50 and over or those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.
For Janssen (J&J), you must be at least 18 years of age and it is a single shot (an Additional Dose is available 28 days after the first dose for those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised). Due to low benefit and possible adverse effects, Janssen is not preferred (though it may still be available). A Single Booster Dose is available after 2 months following the initial dose (or Additional Dose for those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised) for individuals age 18 and over. (Individuals that have received a complete series and a Booster Dose of Janssen may qualify for a Second Booster Dose of either Pfizer or Moderna, as stated above.)
For Novavax, you must be at least 18 years of age. It is a 2 shot series given 21 days apart. It is currently not authorized as a booster dose.
You may select any approved brand for your Booster Dose(s).
