Before each treatment:
1. Use sunscreen daily. Areas with sunburned skin cannot be treated.
2. Avoid any irritants to your face, such as any products containing Hydroquinone, bleaching creams, Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents for at least 2 weeks.
3. Do not use self-tanning agents for at least two weeks before any treatment. If you have used these products, thoroughly cleanse the area with an abrasive/exfoliating scrub to remove all product two weeks prior to any treatment.
4. Do not pluck or wax for at least 1 month prior to your first treatment, continuing through the course of your treatments. Plucking and waxing removes the target hair. Do not bleach or use "Nair-type products for 2 weeks prior to treatment, this can imitate the skin.
5. Please remove makeup, deodorants, and lotions prior to treatment. Ladies. If you are treating your bikini area, please wear white underwear, because the laser is attracted to color.
6. Before each treatment, please inform us if you are taking any new antibiotics or medications, as they may make your skin photosensitive. If this is the case, we may not be able to treat you for one to two weeks after the completion of the antibiotic
After each treatment:
1. Care should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated area for the first 2 or 3 days following treatment. Shaving should be avoided post treatment for 24 hours or until any sign of imitation has vanished.
2. A minimum of SPF 30 with UVA and UVB protection should be used for any sun exposure during your treatment. Sun tanning and tanning beds should be avoided for 2 weeks following treatment and throughout the course of treatments for the best results.
3. Avoid strenuous workouts, hot tubs/Spas/saunas, body treatments, and/or hot showers for at least 24 hours after treatment
4. If the skin is broken or a blister appears, contact us. Also, for further protection, keep the affected area covered and avoid direct sunlight while experiencing these symptoms. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post-treatment.
5. Cold packs or cortisone cream may be used to ease any temporary discomfort. Advil or Motrin can also be used.
6. Makeup can be applied as long as the skin is not broken.
7. Patients who have been tested for epidermal reaction with a test spot can return in 72 hours for treatment
8. Hair may take up to 4 weeks, or in some cases, as little as a few days, to fall out following the treatment.
9. Follow-up subsequent treatments are based on the technician's recommendation, usually about 4-8 weeks following treatment.
10. Avoid irritants such as products containing Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents for at least 2 days.
