The RA Position:
Resident Assistants (RAs) are Shepherd University students who play an integral role on the Residence Life team. RAs live and work in an assigned residence hall, providing academic, personal, and social support to residents. RAs cultivate a positive residential community of engagement, respect, and accountability by role modeling community living, acceptance, and personal responsibility. RAs are considered leaders within the hall and role models on campus.
RAs also lead and support administrative processes such as hall openings, closings, room inspections, and various paperwork. RAs serve in an on-call rotation alongside graduate and professional staff.
The RA position, while a demanding time commitment, provides experiential growth in leadership, communication, and time management. RAs receive a waiver that covers room and board costs while in the role.
