According to New Jersey Department of Human Services (NJ-DHS)/NJ Department of Health (NJ-DOH), "community doulas are equipped to meet particular needs of our NJ FamilyCare members and other under-served communities."
The NJ Supplemental Community Competency Training (SCCT) Series includes cultural competency training, and information about New Jersey specific community-based resources - to aid doulas in supporting individuals/families, and aid doulas in serving as a bridge in facilitating access to essential resources. Registrants will be enrolled into this course on the first Friday of the month.
While the NJ SCCT Series is available to any interested practicing doula, this series is intended to fulfill the NJ-DHS/NJ-DOH requirement for additional cultural competency/community-based training for doulas* interested in becoming a provider of doula care within NJ FamilyCare.
*Some community-based doula training programs are approved with no additional training needed. However, providers with some other sources of doula training may meet NJ-DHS/NJ-DOH provider requirements for NJ-specific community-based/cultural competency training with completion of approved NJ Supplemental Community Competency Training (SCCT).
For more information on approved programs, and how to make sure completion of SCCT is adequately documented for your records, please contact Doula.FHS@doh.nj.gov.
