Florida State law requires the City to have valid reasons to spray for mosquitoes and prohibits spraying on a schedule or automatically without cause. Therefore, the City policy for mosquito control divides the City into 4 sections and requires 6 complaints from a section to perform a landing count verification of mosquito activity. State law requires complaints be verified by landing counts, performed by a licensed mosquito control employee, before spraying can begin.
Only customers who receive utility service from the City of Newberry are eligible to request mosquito spraying. Only those customers pay the mosquito control fee which funds the mosquito spraying. Thank you.
