  • Dear Parent,

Welcome to Therapy West Inclusive Sensory/Social Play Program (TWISPP). We appreciate and look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child. The following policies have been designed to help guide you through our various procedures here at Therapy West and at TWISPP.

  • TWISPP Policies

    • To minimize interruptions in the program, we expect children to be dropped off promptly at the start of class and picked-up promptly at the end of class. We are not able to supervise children when the program is over; therefore they must be picked up on time.

    • A fee of $20.00 per 15 minutes (or fraction thereof) will be charged for late pick-up, and must be paid the same day.

    • Coming to 80% of classes is mandatory. Attendance rates below 80% or not calling to cancel a class will not be tolerated and will result in having your child placed on the waiting list. If you will be absent reasons, you must call us at (310) 337-7115, x166 to inform us of your absence.

    • Conversations on your cellular phone and between parents within the group are disruptive to the kids and are not allowed. Please take all phone calls outside of the classroom, and feel free to move conversations with other parents to the waiting areas.

    • Snacks for special occasions are welcome but must be approved by the staff.

    • Guest observers must be accompanied by Therapy West personnel and need to be scheduled one week in advance through the Program Coordinators at (310) 337-7115, x166. Observations are limited to 20 minutes.

    • It is the parent’s responsibility to maintain a weekly supply of diapers and wipes.

    • A cubby for each child is available to store a change of clothes in a marked bag. Label all clothing with your child’s first name and initial of last name.

    • You must sign in and out every day your child attends our program. Sign in sheets are located in each classroom.

    • A variety of assessments are done periodically to document level of function or to measure progress in development, sensory processing, physiological, or neurological reactions, muscle integrity, balance reactions, etc. If you have any questions of concerns about any assessments or evaluations, please speak to the Program Administrator, Alyson Soong (x166).

  • Parent Participation

    • TWISPP parents are expected to contribute toward the program via the parent co-op. Every family is responsible for contributing 3 hours every month towards program development. A list of ways to fulfill your hours will be given to you on your first day, and is also posted on the TWISPP board.

    • It is the parent’s responsibility to document on the TWISPP board the number of hours contributed each month.

  • Fieldtrips

    • Fieldtrip information is in the monthly newsletter. In addition, individual flyers with directions and details are located each classroom as the fieldtrip day approaches.

    • If the fieldtrip is scheduled for a day that your child does not attend TWISPP, you are still welcome to attend.

    • Parents/caregivers must accompany their child during the fieldtrip.

  • Illnesses

    • Please call when your child is going to be absent, leaving a message on the TWISPP voicemail (337-7115 ext. 166).

    • In an effort to keep all our children and staff healthy, children who are sick will be sent home. Please do not bring your child if she/he is excessively coughing, sneezing, or with a green runny nose. Do not bring your child until at least 24 hours after beginning antibiotics if prescribed or after having a fever. If your child has a rash, you must have a doctor’s note saying it is not contagious.

    • After any extended illness (greater than a week) or major injury, we must have a doctor’s note for your child to return. The note must state that the child is approved to return to school and list any restrictions.

  • Safety Policies

    • In order to maintain the safety of all children, doors must be shut and half doors must be locked at all times.

    • No street shoes are allowed on the gym mats. Food, drinks, and cell phones are not allowed in the classroom or treatment areas.

    • Siblings must stay with parents and are NOT allowed on the equipment.

    • No child is allowed on the equipment unsupervised, including before and after class time. Supervision is provided by therapists or by staff personnel only.

    • If you have a relative/caregiver that will be dropping off and picking up your child, you must provide a written document that authorizes that adult to do so. Staff will check Photo ID’s.

  • Communication

    • Individual parent consultations are scheduled through the TWISPP Program Coordinator (call to schedule an appointment). Feedback is given on a daily basis about your child’s performance in class, but parent conferences are the ideal time to ask questions or discuss your child individually.

  • Thank you in advance for adhering to these policies. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, and concerns.
