PET GROOMING AGREEMENT AND WAIVER

1. The grooming procedure can be stressful especially for geriatric, juvenile, and sick pets. It can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate current ones during or after grooming such as, but not limited to, heart disease, neurologic problems, obesity-related disease, and wounds under the skin. If this happens, it can weaken the pet, or the pet may get sick, or worst it can lead to the demise of your pet.
2. Taking pictures or videos is strictly prohibited during grooming procedures but may be allowed before and after grooming.
3. If your pet has a tick and/or flea infestation, it will be recommended for treatment and grooming will be rescheduled after a week.
4. Accidents: There is always the possibility of an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though our groomers use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems or accidents could occur including nicks, cuts, scratches, quacking of nails, and even death. In most cases, these could happen when the pet is aggressive, untamed, anxious, or restless. It is advised for pet owners not to talk or show yourself while grooming your pet to minimize excitement so they can be steady enough to be groomed. The groomers, veterinary staff, management, and the company will not be liable for any accidents.
5. Dematting is not included in our grooming services. Depending on the severity, pets with matted hair must be shaved off completely. Shaving off of matted hair may impose risk which includes nicks, cuts, and abrasions to skin and may accidentally excise moles, warts, or skin folds hidden under the matted hair. Existing skin problems may be visible after shaving off matted hair like fungal or bacterial dermatitis and other skin infections. After effect of matted coat removal can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritation or abrasion, and failure of the hair to regrow. They are also prone to sunburn after shaving and should be kept out under the sun until some hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. They may also exhibit behavioral changes such as scooting, head wiggling, and scratching due to the removal of hair from the ears.
6. We reserve the right to refuse service to your pet if we perceive a threat to our groomers and staff which includes: aggressive pets that tend to bite or injure the groomer, uncourteous owners, and pets with existing health issues and concerns.
7. All pets to be groomed must have an updated rabies and core vaccinations as well as tick and flea prevention. In case of nosocomial infections, the Pet Doctor Dog and Cat Health and Wellness Center will not be held liable for such incidents.
